Shaman Mask
In Inuit culture, shaman masks hold deep spiritual significance. They were traditionally used by angakkuit (shamans) during ceremonies to connect with the spirit world, heal the sick, and ensure balance between humans, animals, and nature. Each mask represented a spirit helper or transformation, symbolizing the shaman’s ability to move between physical and spiritual realms. The designs often combined human and animal features, reflecting the Inuit belief that all living beings share interconnected spirits. These masks were not merely art—they were sacred tools used to maintain harmony and guide the community through the unseen forces of life.
