First Nations

In Canada, the First Nations are the predominant indigenous peoples in Canada south of the Arctic Circle. They are the original inhabitants of the land that is now our country, and were the first to encounter sustained European contact, settlement and trade. There are 634 First Nations in Canada, speaking more than 50 distinct languages.
