Eagle & False Face
Among the First Nations culture, curing illnesses that are not physically apparent involve ceremonies and spirituality. The aboriginal group have a number of different medicine societies which can perform different curing rites. In cases of serious illness when other medicine societies have failed to bring about a cure the Wooden False Face Society would be called in. With regard to the symbolism of the masks, they portray the Great Doctor.
The eagle is a sacred and noble creature that represents power and prestige among the First Nations people. Also known as wisdom and having a special connection to the creator.
