In many First Nations cultures, the eagle is one of the most sacred and respected animals. It is seen as a messenger between humans and the Creator, carrying prayers to the spiritual realm. The eagle’s ability to soar high symbolizes strength, courage, wisdom, and vision, inspiring people to rise above challenges and see life with clarity. Its feathers are considered powerful spiritual gifts, used in ceremonies, healing rituals, and regalia to honor truth, respect, and connection to the divine.

In many First Nations cultures, women hold a position of deep respect, strength, and balance. They are often regarded as life-givers and caretakers of the community — responsible not only for bearing and nurturing children but also for maintaining cultural traditions, stories, and spiritual teachings.

Women traditionally play key roles as knowledge keepers, healers, and decision-makers, with their wisdom guiding family and community well-being. In matrilineal societies, such as the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), lineage and inheritance are traced through the mother’s line, and women often choose or advise the male leaders.
